
Efficiency in electric motors and generators is usually discussed in terms of reducing losses. But even highly efficient electrical machines still generate heat — and the question is what happens to that remaining thermal energy.
With capcooltech®, the cooling medium flows directly through the hollow conductors of the winding, exactly where the heat is generated. This shortens the thermal path, improves temperature control and reduces local hotspots.
Direct conductor cooling can enable higher continuous power density, more compact machine designs and a reduced use of materials such as copper, electrical steel and magnets. At the same time, the heat is captured in a defined coolant flow, making it easier to integrate into the overall thermal-management system.
This opens up additional possibilities for heat reuse, for example in industrial processes, heating systems or other applications where thermal energy is required.
